TRAVEL INFORMATION OF CHIHUAHUA
CHIHUAHUA MEXICO TRAVEL AND TOURS INFORMATION A city of contrasts in a dry and sandy area, a refulgent capital in the middle of the desert. This is the place where Chihuahua stands, with its temples of colonial origin, with its buildings of avant-garde lines, with its hundreds of assembly industries and its cowboy boots on exhibit in the glass cases of the shops. Chihuahua - capital of the homonymous state - should not be considered just a drive-through place, with no history, no attractions, hardly known for the great number of assembly industries that have taken root in these northern lands, specially in Juarez City. Due to its closeness to the United States, the Chihuahua people face a new crossbreed nowadays, one that mixes the Mexican traditions and cultural features with the lifestyles that its gigantic neighbour, located across the river, irradiates. The clash is evident in the architecture, the artistic concepts and even in the food, characteristics that give the city a distinctive touch. Founded in 1709 by Don Antonio Daza, the city enjoyed prosperity during its first years, due to the bonanza of the neighbouring mines and the presence of the Catholic religious orders, which fostered the construction of beautiful temples in the XVIII century, mostly in the baroque style.
TRAVEL INFORMATION OF BARRANCAS DEL COBRE
BARRANCAS DEL COBRE TRAVEL AND TOURS INFORMATION The train from Chihuahua to the Pacific Ocean appears to suffer while running over the abstract geography of Barrancas del Cobre (Copper's Gullies); therefore, each station, each small town - colonial or mining, always dusty - turns into a quiet place where to recuperate its strength and restart its reckless course through serpentine abysses with renewed impulse. And the old "horse of iron" begins to devour the rails and sleepers in one of the most amazing railway routes in the world, an splendid route that allows for the admiration of canyons, lakes and cascades of the Barrancas del Cobre, a magical place chiselled by the persistence of time and the force of nature. The indomitable geography of the gullies was originated 30 million years ago, when successive volcanic explosions tore the guts of the so called Sierra Madre Occidental. The huge amounts of lava and ashes generated by the eruptions were scattered all over the zone, turning in time into one of the most dazzling landscape environments in the country. A natural space impacting not only for its powerful depressions (deeper than the mythical Grand Canyon of the Colorado River) and frightening slopes, but also for its upright mountains, splendid waterfalls, deep forests and the species of flora and fauna that inhabit the 600 kilometre long and 250 kilometre wide area comprised in this zone of the state of Chihuahua.
